The handball players of the Spanish first division clubs Ademar Leon and Santander achieved a great first on Sunday. The teams were forced to line up with a mouth mask following a decision by the regional government of Castile and Leon.

The news came as a surprise to both teams. It was only shortly before the start of the match in Leon that the local government decided that the obligation to wear mouth masks also applied during sports competitions.

The footage shows how players struggled at times to keep their noses and mouths covered during the game. After the game, Ademar's coach, who won the game 31-23, called the requirement to wear a mouth mask "absurd".
